Contest is open to all School Nutrition Association (SNA) Members. Teams may also include non-SNA members.
The program focuses on energy balance between food and physical activity to help one reach and maintain personal wellness. Eat Smart, Get Moving! is designed to allow teams to work together, tracking physical activity and food choices as "points". The program is organized into three phases with progressive nutrition and physical activity goals that will lead individuals and teams toward meeting key recommendations in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans – such as getting enough dairy, fruits and vegetables and whole grains. The team's points are calculated by averaging the points that each individual team member earns by meeting the specified goals of each of the three phases. These points translate into miles to help each team move from Chicago to Philadelphia. Along the way, teams can download resources from the Eat Smart, Get Moving! Website — http://www.EatSmart-GetMoving.org — to help them on the journey to personal wellness.
The Eat Smart, Get Moving! contest will run from September 18, 2007 through April 14, 2008 for a total of 30 weeks. Program launch and open registration will occur at the 2007 SNA Annual National Conference in Chicago, IL on July 17, 2007. On-line registration will be open from July 17, through September 18, 2007 at www.EatSmart-GetMoving.org

The total number of T-shirts sent to the team leader will be the number of team members registered on September 18, 2007. T-Shirts are all one size with no exceptions.
The Phase 2 incentive is a 3 A Day of Dairy Cereal on the Go Container (value $6) Only the active team members that have submitted points to their team leader for on-line submission to meet reporting deadline for end of Phase 2 will be eligible to receive Cereal on the Go Containers.
Final Prizes
For active team members to be eligible for final prizes, teams will need to participate in all 3 phases of the program and report progress as outlined in the above phases. Final prizes will go to the top three schools with highest overall points reported based on team average within each team size category. The district prize goes to top district with the highest overall district average, with a minimum of three participating teams that all have 2 or more active team members. Final individual prizes go to only those participants who have been active in all three phases of program.
